Art Deco House
An original brick Art Deco house renovated unsympathetically several times during its life, is lovingly restored. Lacking in connection to any back yard space, upper and lower balconies are added. Connecting the balconies, existing window openings are down to form door ways. The new hand crafted sliding door sets allow natural light to flood in. A curved corner is rebuilt, clad in Curved Aluminium panels, with windows made to exactly match retained original windows. Into it an Art Deco style kitchen with new Terrazzo floors is carefully designed to conceal modern elements. An old leaking Art Deco bathroom is updated reusing old tiles and a re-enamelled 100 year old cast iron basin. Throughout Art Deco features are restored or carefully updated with reproduction elements, resulting in a home reminiscent of the 1920s with a modern touch.
